Marine and water access pontoons are not always what Rebel Marine do. Following on from another project in East Devon we were asked to provide a track mat roadway across a field to reach a nearby railway embankment that needed culvert drainage repair works completing.

As the field was prime arable land the landowner requested minimum damage to the spring crop growth. This meant laying the track mats from the road access along the field perimeter round to the furthest corner where the culvert could be found awaiting repairs. As heavy plant machinery was going to be used the roadway was made up of the heavy duty TuffTrak mats, 3 metres by 2.5 metres and weighing 295 kg.

Using our smaller Manitou telehandler with extended forks and hydraulic ram attachment we assisted in taking delivery of and laying over 180 mats, reaching nearly half a kilometre – in less than two days!

Three weeks after the completion of works, our team returned to oversee and support the recovery process for the track mat roadway. In collaboration with our supplier, we utilized our compact Manitou telehandler to efficiently lift, load, and remove the mats. The entire removal operation was successfully completed within two days.
