Tracked Crane in Difficult access

A site with difficult access and an even more difficult lifting job was a recent challenge for Rebel Marine at the Barn Elms Sports Ground in Barnes for the Environment Agency.

The project involved the refurbishment of a tidal sluice gate located adjacent to the Thames, undertaken on behalf of the Environment Agency. The final phase encompassed the installation of new galvanised metal frames, grating, and inspection panels atop the sluice gate.

The heavy metal work had to be lowered several metres down on to the top of the sluice gate outlet and the access was across a narrow footbridge above the sluice.

While the lift plan itself was clear and uncomplicated, site access required employing one of our specialised lifting solutions: the Hoeflon C1e fully electric compact pick and carry crane. Transported with a small trailer, access through London to site was easy. Measuring just 712 mm in width, this equipment was able to traverse the limited pedestrian access bridge with ease, and its maximum lift capacity of 720 kg ensured efficient handling of the ironwork. Additionally, its fully electric operation aligned seamlessly with the client's sustainability objectives.

Rebel Marine offer access solutions for all your projects on land and water.
